Collegiate Peaks Scenic and Historic Byway
History of the Collegiate Peaks Scenic & Historic Byway
The vision of the Collegiate Peaks Scenic and Historic Byway began with the desire to bring awareness of the region, educate residents and visitors and preserve the scenic viewshed.
Utilizing grant funds provided by the Federal Highway Administration and the Colorado Department of Transportation lands along the byway were evaluated for their conservation value based on their importance for scenic views, agricultural production, wildlife habitat, proximity to conserved lands, and historic significance.
